Marlies Pilon (28) is a freelance multimedia journalist from Amsterdam, currently residing in Kampala. With a background in Anthropology and Media, she is constantly on the lookout for the extraordinary in the ordinary, highlighting inspiring projects, people and places. She tries to translate East-Africa’s reality into words, sounds and (moving-) images. After traveling through Latin-America, Asia and Africa, Marlies decided Uganda is her place to be. While living in Kampala, she created a serious jackfruit-addiction and developed an ambivalent relationship with uncivilized boda-boda rides through the capital.

“Besides being fresh and inspiring, The HUB gives me an international network and the structure I need to take my business to the next level. It’s the perfect place for creative entrepreneurs who are looking for an open-minded and enthusiastic atmosphere. Did I mention the coffee is delicious?”
